False: Trump is speaking about nominal prices, not real prices. Gasoline prices spiked after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but adjusted for inflation, monthly retail prices still did not top June 2008’s inflation-adjusted price of $5.38 a gallon, according to the Energy Information Administration. U.S. residential retail electricity prices jumped sharply in 2021 but inflation-adjusted prices have been higher, according to the EIA. Natural gas prices, adjusted for inflation, also have been higher.

“ … and we are no longer energy independent or energy dominant, which we were just two short years ago.”

False: This was one of Trump’s favorite false claims from his presidency. The United States was never energy independent when he was president; it continued to import millions of barrels of oil per day.

“We are a nation that is begging Venezuela and Saudi Arabia for oil.”

Misleading; Canada is by far the largest oil exporter to the United States, accounting for more than 60 percent of total U.S. crude oil imports in 2021, according to the EIA. Saudi Arabia supplied just 6 percent. Russia supplied 3 percent, but after the invasion of Ukraine earlier this year, Biden banned Russian energy imports. The administration has urged Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela to increase gas exports to help reduce prices in the United States.

Misleading; Biden implemented the withdrawal plan that Trump had negotiated and wanted to act on. The departure was certainly mismanaged, but it’s unknown whether Trump would have done any better.

Misleading; We’ve previously given this claim Three Pinocchios. The $85 billion number represents all the money appropriated to train, equip and house the Afghan military and police since the U.S. invasion of 2001; moreover, not all of it had been disbursed by the time the Afghan government fell. At best, about 30 percent of this money was spent on equipment, but over two decades, a significant percentage of this equipment may have become obsolete or been destroyed.

“Where the economy has been collapsing.”

False: Economists are divided as to whether the United States is at risk of entering a recession, but the robust July jobs report showed that all of the jobs lost during the pandemic-related economic collapse that started under Trump have been recovered.

“Where more people died of covid in 2021 than in 2020.”

Misleading: The pandemic effectively emerged in March 2020 — only 26 deaths were recorded for January and February — so essentially 2020 is a 10-month number compared with 12 months in 2021. Moreover, a surge in cases at the end of 2020 — when Trump was still president — led to many deaths at the start of 2021, before vaccines became widely available.

Misleading: Trump terminated the agreement negotiated by the Obama administration that had halted Iran’s program, claiming he could get a better deal. He never did, and Biden so far has been unable to revive the previous agreement.

False: Trump persists in misunderstanding trade deficits. Countries do not “take” money from another country if it has a trade surplus. Trade deficits with China persisted during every year of Trump’s presidency — the goods and services trade deficit was $285.5 billion in 2020 — but the trade benefited both countries. China was the United States’ third largest goods export market in 2020, according to the U.S. Trade Representative.

Misleading: China announced in 2019, when Trump was president, it would seek military parity with the United States by 2027. The Indo-Pacific Command, in a May report to Congress, said $67 billion in new military spending was needed to maintain the U.S. military edge.

False: A Pew Research Center survey of 16 countries found a significant uptick in ratings of the U.S. image after Biden became president.

False: For decades, U.S. students have lagged some of their peers in industrialized countries such as South Korea and Finland, but it’s wrong to claim the U.S. educational system is “ranked at the bottom of every nation.” The United States ranked in the middle of the pack in the 2018 OECD program for International Student Assessment (PISA), a triennial survey of 15-year-old students. “Students in the United States performed above the OECD average in reading (505 score points) and science (502), and below the OECD average in mathematics (478),” the report said. “Their scores were similar to those of students in Australia, Germany, New Zealand, Sweden and the United Kingdom in at least two of these three subjects.”

The main thing that I am worried about is the complacency of the public and specifically the country’s leaders and law enforcement and other people in positions of authority and power who are still letting Trump run wild. Trump is extremely dangerous. Trump does not believe in laws and rules. He wants to be a lawless dictator. This is why I continue to share my conclusion, based on the evidence, that Donald Trump appears to be psychotic. He is a person who is detached from reality. Even with the trials and other pressures, Trump is not capable of breaking down, of being cowed and/or broken. If anything, Trump will go down in flames if he goes down at all. Trump is an extreme narcissist who will destroy anyone who has ever done anything to hurt him, to oppose him, or defy him.

	(1) Pressure On Comey To End Probe Of Michael Flynn – Comey testified to congress that Trump said this at a private dinner meeting; “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go,”. Mueller’s report says “substantial evidence” indicates Trump’s decision to fire Comey in May 2017 was the result of the FBI director’s unwillingness to say publicly that Trump was not personally under investigation.
	(2) Reaction To The Continuing Russia Investigation – Among the evidence is the president telling then-White House counsel Don McGahn to stop Attorney General Jeff Sessions from recusing himself from the Russia investigation and Trump’s subsequent anger at Sessions. Trump also contacted Comey and other intelligence agency leaders to ask them to push back publicly on the suggestion that Trump had any connection to the Russian election-interference effort.
	(3) Firing Of Comey And Aftermath – Mueller’s report says “substantial evidence” indicates Trump’s decision to fire Comey in May 2017 was the result of the FBI director’s unwillingness to say publicly that Trump was not personally under investigation. On the day after Trump fired Comey, the president told Russian officials that he had “faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.”
	(4) Appointment Of Special Counsel And Efforts To Remove Him – Following media reports that Mueller’s team was investigating whether Trump had obstructed justice, Trump called then-White House counsel Don McGahn at home and directed him to have Mueller removed. McGahn refused.
	(5) Further Efforts To Curtail The Special Counsel’s Investigation – Trump instructed former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski to have Sessions publicly announce that, notwithstanding his recusal from the Russia investigation, the investigation was “very unfair” to the president, the president had done nothing wrong, and Sessions planned to meet with Mueller to limit him to “investigating election meddling for future elections.
	(6) Efforts To Prevent Public Disclosure Of Evidence – In summer of 2017, Trump learned that the news media planned to report on the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower between senior campaign officials and Russians offering derogatory information about Hillary Clinton. The president directed aides not to publicly disclose the emails setting up the meeting. Before the emails became public, the president also edited a press statement for Donald Trump Jr. by deleting a line that acknowledged that the meeting was “with an individual who (Trump Jr.) was told might have information helpful to the campaign.”
	(7) Additional Efforts To Have Sessions Take Control Of Investigation – At several points in between July 2017 and December 2017, Trump tried to get Sessions to declare that he was no longer recused from the Russia investigation and would assert control over it. The report says there’s evidence that one purpose of asking Sessions to step in was so that the attorney general would restrict the investigation’s scope.
	(8) Trump Orders White House Counsel To Deny That President Tried To Fire Mueller– In an Oval Office meeting in February 2018, Trump told McGahn to “correct” a New York Times story that reported Trump had earlier instructed McGahn to fire Mueller. Trump also asked why McGahn had told Mueller’s investigators about the directive to remove Mueller. McGahn told Trump he had to tell the investigators the truth.
	(9) Trump’s Actions Toward, Flynn, Manafort And Other Possible Witnesses– Mueller looked at whether Trump’s sympathetic messages to Flynn, former campaign manager Paul Manafort and others were intended to limit their cooperation with Mueller’s investigation. When Flynn began cooperating with prosecutors, Trump passed word through his lawyer that he still had warm feeling for Flynn and asked for a “heads up” if Flynn knew of information implicating Trump. Trump praised Manafort during and after his criminal convictions, and refused to rule out a pardon for his former campaign chairman.
	(10) Trump Actions Toward Michael Cohen – Mueller noted that Trump’s conduct toward Cohen, a former Trump Organization executive, changed from praise to castigation after Cohen began cooperating with prosecutors. The evidence could “support an inference that the president used inducements in the form of positive messages in an effort to get Cohen not to cooperate, and then turned to attacks and intimidation to deter” cooperation and undermine Cohen’s credibility, Mueller wrote.

	(2) With the same corrupt motives, President Trump—acting both directly and through his agents within and outside the United States Government—conditioned two official acts on the public announcements that he had requested
	(A) the release of $391 million of United States taxpayer funds that Congress had appropriated on a bipartisan basis for the purpose of providing vital military and security assistance to Ukraine to oppose Russian aggression and which President Trump had ordered suspended;
	(B) a head of state meeting at the White House, which the President of Ukraine sought to demonstrate continued United States support for the Government of Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.
	(3) Faced with the public revelation of his actions, President Trump ultimately released the military and security assistance to the Government of Ukraine, but has persisted in openly and corruptly urging and soliciting Ukraine to undertake investigations for his personal political benefit.
IMPEACHMENT – ARTICLE II: OBSTRUCTION OF CONGRESS
	(1) Directing the White House to defy a lawful subpoena by withholding the production of documents sought therein by the Committees.
	(2) Directing other Executive Branch agencies and offices to defy lawful subpoenas and withhold the production of documents and records from the Committees—in response to which the Department of State, Office of Management and Budget, Department of Energy, and Department of Defense refused to produce a single document or record.

	These actions were consistent with Trump’s previous efforts to undermine United States Government investigations into foreign interference in United States elections.
